Veniamin Kondratyev: Krasnodar Region ranked among top ten regions of Russia for mechanical engineering development

The governor informed the press of this matter. The ranking is compiled annually by experts from the Small and Medium-Sized Business Corporation.

«More than three thousand small and large industrial companies operate in the engineering industry in the Krasnodar Region. They supply the entire country with modern technology, machinery, and equipment and employ over 35,000 residents of the region and invited specialists. Kuban enterprises have expanded their expertise in transport, food, energy, oil and gas engineering industries, and, of course, in the production of agricultural machinery and equipment necessary for our agricultural region. Our major factories, which we are particularly proud of, include Kaskad, Saturn, Neftemash in Krasnodar, the Armavir Electromechanical Plant, and the Kropotkin Engineering Plant, among others. The Southern Heavy Machine Tool Plant holds a distinguished position as one of the three top manufacturers of this type in Russia,» said Veniamin Kondratyev.

The head of the region noted that the industry is showing positive dynamics. In the first eight months of 2025, the total volume of shipments by Kuban machine builders reached approximately 63.5 billion roubles, an increase of 103.1% compared to the same period in the previous year. The most significant increase in sales, by 10-22%, was in the production of machinery and equipment, including machine tool manufacturing, radio-electronic products, and machinery and equipment repair.

Over the past three years, the number of engineering companies in Russia has increased by 14.4%, exceeding 46,000. The industry is largely associated with big business. However, there has been notable growth in the number of small and medium-sized enterprises in this sector in recent years. Their annual growth rate ranges from 2% to 5%. More than 35% of small and medium-sized enterprises in the machine-building sector are registered in the Central Federal District, 20.5% in the Volga Federal District, and almost 14% in the Northwestern Federal District. Moscow leads Russia’s top ten regions for mechanical engineering development, with Krasnodar Region at the bottom of the list.
